Zincal® is a steel product that is produced using innovative methods and techniques to enhance its strength, formability, and versatility. The production process involves continuously hot-dipping rolled steel into a 55% Aluminum, 43.5% Zinc, and 1.5% Silicon Alloy, which extends the durability and service life of the steel. The patented coating on Zincal® protects the steel in two ways:

1. The aluminum component of the coating creates a barrier between the steel and extreme atmospheric conditions.
2. The zinc in the coating provides sacrificial protection and also protects the steel at the cut edges.

Zincal® is a roofing solution that has a lower thermal mass than traditional materials such as galvanized steel and clay tile. This is achieved through the addition of aluminum, which increases the reflection of sunlight and helps regulate the temperature inside the building. By using Zincal®, the building will be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Additionally, Zincal® has a high solar reflective index (SRI), which provides optimal performance and transfers less heat than other traditional roofing options.

ZincAL® steel is designed to support the longevity of Solar Panel Lifespan and is produced locally to fit every South African building, minimizing the cost of ownership. The durability of a metal roof is affected by both the PV panel system and roofing assembly, so both should be taken into consideration during design, installation, and maintenance.

In cases where incompatible metals are used, galvanic corrosion can occur, leading to a breakdown of the surface of the solar/PV panel. However, the advanced AZ coated alloy used in Zincal® is less prone to galvanic corrosion when combined with any solar/PV panel-compatible aluminum frame.

Our aluminum-zinc coated steel product is a more efficient option than galvanized roofing. Building professionals are encouraged to choose ZincAL® over cheap imported alternatives that come from unknown sources, often in the Far East. There is only one original ZincAL® product, identified by the brand stamp on the back of the formed roof sheet.

Research shows that ZincAL® roofing, which is coated with aluminum and zinc, can last for 60 years or more. This is much longer than the typical lifespan of solar/PV panels, which is around 25-30 years. This means that when you replace your roof, you won't have to remove and reinstall the PV system.

Most PV installations are added to existing buildings. However, with more focus on energy efficiency and being able to resist power outages, new commercial and warehouse buildings are being designed with PV arrays already installed.

To make sure that our product is high-quality and can handle different weather conditions, we use different test methods:

•Salt Spray Testing (Q Fog Testing) - This test exposes our products to salt fumes at specific temperatures for a certain amount of time. The length of time depends on the type of coating.

•Live Test Stations - We have set up test stations in different places to observe how our product performs under everyday weather conditions.
